Nauset Regional and Upper Cape Cod RVT are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Nauset Regional and Sturgis East have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Storm with a sharp 19-4 victory. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Storm recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Alex Mince, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Lucy Hartung was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Nauset Regional always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .722. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Upper Cape Cod RVT came up short against Old Colony RVT on Monday, falling 18-5.
Upper Cape Cod RVT saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rosalie Neville, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Neville's first of the season. Another was Brooklyn Kutil, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Upper Cape Cod RVT's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Nauset Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Upper Cape Cod RVT's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Nauset Regional has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Upper Cape Cod RVT, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given Nauset Regional's sizable advantage in that area, the Rams will need to find a way to close that gap.
Nauset Regional might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Upper Cape Cod RVT in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
