Last Tuesday, Desert Hills made easy work of Dixie and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Flyers: they've now won four in a row.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-16, 25-15.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Desert Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Schudde, who had 16 assists and three aces. That's the most aces Schudde has posted since back in March. James Candland was another key player, getting 15 assists and three aces.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Pine View's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Crimson Cliffs by a score of 3-2. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 25-20 in the first set.
Pine View started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 19-25, 25-16, 25-19, 15-11.
Pine View's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Desert Hills, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Desert Hills hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 9.6 blocks per game. It's a different story for Pine View, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 blocks. Given Desert Hills' sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
