Basketball Recap: Jakayla Grace Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Greene County

Northeast Lauderdale lost to Greene County back in February of 2017, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Northeast Lauderdale Trojans managed a 33-28 win over the Greene County Wildcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Northeast Lauderdale got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jakayla Grace out in front who posted six points and six steals. Grace is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Jordyn Vaughn was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was A'Sharia Higgins, who scored 11 points and five boards. Higgins is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zamiah Knight, who earned seven points and five steals.

Northeast Lauderdale is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Greene County, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Northeast Lauderdale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-38 defeat against Newton County on the 13th. Greene County has also already played their next matchup, a 38-30 loss against Moss Point on the 14th.
