The Amundsen Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 46-24 loss at the hands of Taft. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Amundsen has scored all season.
Taft got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabriela Gonzalez out in front who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Grace Brumley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Amundsen has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Taft, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amundsen will take on Westinghouse at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westinghouse presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Amundsen in Illinois (Westinghouse is ranked 103rd, while Amundsen is ranked 325th). As for Taft, they will play host again and welcome Orr, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Orr focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
