After flying high against the Horace Mann School for the Deaf Cougars last Wednesday, the American School for the Deaf Tigers came back down to earth. American School for the Deaf was outmatched by Ohio School for the Deaf on the road and fell 71-36. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as American School for the Deaf came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 51st in Connecticut, while Ohio School for the Deaf is ranked 786th in Ohio).
John M and Basil B certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. M dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds, while B scored 15 points along with seven steals. M is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Winkester M was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
American School for the Deaf has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Ohio School for the Deaf, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-8.
American School for the Deaf will head out on the road to challenge Midstate Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully American School for the Deaf focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Friday. As for Ohio School for the Deaf, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-42 loss vs. Marie Philip on the 10th.
