The Pilot Point Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Callisburg Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Pilot Point is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 23-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Pilot Point was beaten by the Panthers 86-23. Pilot Point was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-11.
Meanwhile, Callisburg's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Ponder, falling 71-13. While losing is never fun, Callisburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1227th, while the Lions are ranked 368th).
Pilot Point's defeat dropped their record down to 1-24. As for Callisburg, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-22 record this season.
Pilot Point came up short against the Wildcats when the teams last played back in January, falling 37-31. Can Pilot Point avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
