Walker Valley faced Page in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Mustangs blew past the Patriots 8-1. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Olivia Presswood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Karly Blackwell and Madison Thomas did most of the damage at the plate: Blackwell went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Thomas got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Blackwell has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanessa Byers, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Walker Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Page only posted an OBP of .231.

The win was the ninth in a row for Walker Valley, bringing their record up to 33-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Page, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-6.

Walker Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-3 win against Rossview on the 21st. As for Page, they have also already played their next game, a 5-3 victory against Dobyns-Bennett on the 21st.
