The Merritt Island Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They really took it to Astronaut for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-31 win on the road. Merritt Island's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Merritt Island to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaliah Jones, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ada Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Merritt Island's win bumped their record up to 2-12. As for Astronaut, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Merritt Island will take on Sebastian River at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Astronaut, Astronaut and Space Coast will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
