After flying high against the Platte Valley Broncos on Saturday, the Lutheran Lions came back down to earth. Lutheran took a serious blow against Legend on Tuesday, falling 68-20. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lutheran has scored all season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lutheran struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Legend racked up 18 assists.
Legend's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katie Lamb, who scored 14 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Maley Wilhelm, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Lutheran has fallen quite a ways from their 23-4 record last season and are now at 1-4. As for Legend, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Lutheran will head out on the road to face off against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Chaparral focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for Legend, they will face off against Ponderosa at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ponderosa is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
