Yonkers has gone a perfect 4-0 against Yonkers Montessori Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bulldogs will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Yonkers has four straight wins, Yonkers Montessori Academy has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Yonkers barely beat Roosevelt the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Sharks with a sharp 17-1 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Gio Bello made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Bello was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Yonkers got a massive performance out of Javy Sanchez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Sanchez has hit this season. Melvin Guzman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Yonkers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Yonkers Montessori Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Gorton on April 2nd, falling 13-5.
Yonkers' win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Yonkers Montessori Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything went Yonkers' way against Yonkers Montessori Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Yonkers made off with an 11-1 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
