Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Roanoke Valley Christian 68-8 at home. Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Kelsey Threewitts, who scored 11 points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Adah Tuckwiller, who scored ten points along with five steals and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Timberlake Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 35-30 to Westover Christian Academy. Timberlake Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Timberlake Christian saw an underclassman step up: Dayla Sleboda scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Emma Luther was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Timberlake Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy have been dynamite from deep this season, having only drained 34.9% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Timberlake Christian, though, as they've only made 32.8% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
