South Beloit hasn't had much luck against Alden-Hebron recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Sobos will head out on the road to take on the Green Giants at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
South Beloit made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ashton-Franklin Center, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Sobos were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Raiders on Monday. While the Sobos didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Cesar Alfaro, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Keaton Pautsch also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Alfaro wasn't the only one making solid contact: South Beloit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for the Sobos: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alden-Hebron). They blew past Faith Christian 23-9 on Monday. The Green Giants might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Aldo Carreno and Christian Nunez were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Carreno pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Nunez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Carreno scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Nunez scored four runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Jack Stewart and Wyatt Armbrust did most of the damage at the plate: Stewart scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Armbrust scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-5. Armbrust is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. John Misiek was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.
Alden-Hebron's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. As for South Beloit, their record now sits at 7-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Beloit has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Alden-Hebron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
