The Hamilton Heights Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Lapel Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamilton Heights is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
Hamilton Heights struggled with assists on Thursday (West Lafayette had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hamilton Heights took a 63-44 bruising from West Lafayette. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Hamilton Heights came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while West Lafayette is ranked 95th).
Despite the defeat, Hamilton Heights got a solid performance out of Camryn Runner, who scored 19 points along with three steals. The matchup was Runner's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hadleigh Cherry, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lapel was able to grind out a solid victory over Monroe Central on Thursday, taking the game 46-35. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Lapel has scored all year.
Hamilton Heights' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2. As for Lapel, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Hamilton Heights beat Lapel 46-38 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hamilton Heights since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
