The Moody Blue Devils will face off against the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Moody comes in on four and Hewitt-Trussville on seven.
Moody is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Ramsay on Monday as they made off with a 20-3 win. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Abi Gray was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Taylor Rogers was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Gray wasn't the only one making solid contact: Moody kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Hewitt-Trussville owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They skirted past Hoover 2-0.
The result came thanks to Kinley Poe's shutout, as she gave up just a hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Corey Goguts, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Moody's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hewitt-Trussville, their record is now 24-11.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Moody hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .382. However, it's not like Hewitt-Trussville struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Moody couldn't quite get it done against Hewitt-Trussville in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 13-9. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
