Basketball Game Preview: Lakeland Christian Vikings vs. Frostproof Bulldogs

The Lakeland Christian Vikings will head out to challenge the Frostproof Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeland Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season.

Lakeland Christian took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Geneva Classical Academy 55-5. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Lakeland Christian can attribute much of their success to Rudi Jessee, who went 9 of 16 on her way to 21 points and six steals, and Khloe Overstreet, who went 7 of 11 en route to 17 points and three steals. Jessee has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Collette Zavada, who posted five points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Frostproof was not able to break out of their rough patch back in December of 2024 as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 38-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Meade.

Lakeland Christian will need focus on slowing down Sanyqua Sloan, one of several Frostproof players who made an impact when they last played. She had ten points. Another player making a difference was Sha'Derricka Sloan, who posted nine points.

Lakeland Christian pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.7 points per game. As for Frostproof, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything came up roses for Lakeland Christian against Frostproof when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 45-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakeland Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
