In this week's power rankings, we saw one team go soaring up and another team come crashing down, along with everything in between. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Arundel and Annapolis.
Can't Touch This
Edgewood got a 38 - 8 win over Aberdeen last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Antwain Banks. Banks ran for 193 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. That performance made Banks one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Calvert Hall (3rd in the power rankings) and Archbishop Spalding (4th). Calvert Hall finished its game with a 21 - 7 win. As a result, it rose one spot in the power rankings.
Movin on Up
It was onward and upward for Old Mill this week as the team hoisted itself up 11 places in the power rankings -- the largest rise of the week -- after their most recent game. It kept its opponent Chesapeake off the scoreboard entirely, winning the match 28 - 0. Chesapeake had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only 12 points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off Old Mill.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Glenelg (15th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and River Hill (58th). This will be the second home game in a row for Glenelg. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
