The Deerfield Spartans won the last time they faced the Walsh Eagles, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Deerfield took down the Eagles 56-41.
Leading Deerfield to victory were Michael Lira and Colten Musil. Lira scored 17 points along with two steals, while Musil scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Musil has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maverick Najera, who scored 14 points.
Deerfield's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Walsh, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deerfield has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Lobos on February 2nd. Walsh will take on the Redhawks at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
