After flying high against the Brooke Point Black Hawks last Friday, the Riverbend Bears came back down to earth. Riverbend's tough 57-33 defeat to Massaponax on Thursday might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Riverbend has scored all season.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hannah Alexander, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Alexander has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Olivia Long was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Riverbend bumped their record down to 8-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Massaponax, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Mountain View the next time they take the court. Massaponax will head out to face Mountain View at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while Riverbend will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
