The LaFayette Bulldogs lost against the Handley Tigers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. LaFayette fell 58-47 to the Tigers. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for LaFayette in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.
LaFayette's loss came despite strong showings from Branaviyun Story and Deaundra Vines. Story scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Vines scored eight points along with seven steals and six assists. Vines is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Vaderrian Story, who scored 11 points.
LaFayette's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-7. As for Handley, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. LaFayette won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Wadley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Tuesday. As for Handley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on February 5th. Munford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 371st, while the Tigers are ranked 166th).
