Glenns Ferry extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-10-1 in the process. They lost 13-6 to the Melba Mustangs. If the Pilots were looking for revenge after losing 24-0 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Glenns Ferry saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Sterling, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with seven stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Alan Mesillas was another, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Melba, they moved to 8-10 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
On Melba's side, Colter Bodily was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Bodily a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Melba: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Melba let Ty Aggen and Kelton Bodily run wild. Aggen went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Bodily got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Aggen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aden Arrington, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Coming up, Glenns Ferry will square off against Idaho City at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.12 runs per game on average), something the Pilots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Melba, they will take on Cole Valley Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
