Genoa Christian Academy's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They blew past Shekinah Christian 47-18 on the road. Genoa Christian Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 29 points or more this season.
Genoa Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Leah Kinley out in front who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Kinley has scored at least a third of Genoa Christian Academy's points. Avery Norman was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Despite the loss, Shekinah Christian saw an underclassman step up: Noe Wanty scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Genoa Christian Academy's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. As for Shekinah Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Genoa Christian Academy will take on Tree of Life Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tree of Life Christian's defense has only allowed 26.5 points per game this season, so Genoa Christian Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. Shekinah Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Patriot Prep Academy at 12:30 p.m. on January 13th.
