The Sparta Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 84-77 hit to the loss column at the hands of La Crosse Logan. Sparta has struggled against La Crosse Logan recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grant Geier, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Geier scored 15 or more points. Thomas Laufenberg was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Sparta now has a losing record at 2-3. As for La Crosse Logan, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparta will be home for the holidays to greet Baraboo at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Baraboo knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Sparta likes a good challenge. La Crosse Logan will be home for the holidays to greet Onalaska at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
