Baseball Recap: Liberty Common Wins Going Away Against Strasburg

Liberty Common hadn't done well against Strasburg recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Indians. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Indians on their field since April 9, 2022.

Roman Galindo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Liberty Common is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-7 otherwise. Galindo was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Liberty Common let Owen Hood and Lucas Wagner run wild. Hood went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Wagner went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Hood is becoming a predictor of Liberty Common's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Raphael McDanald was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Liberty Common has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Strasburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.

Liberty Common wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 7-5 defeat against Resurrection Christian on the 24th. As for Strasburg, they have also already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against Fort Morgan on the 24th.
