Hanahan is 1-6 against Battery Creek since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hanahan Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Battery Creek Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. Hanahan will be strutting in after a victory while Battery Creek will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Hanahan earned a 29-17 win over Beaufort.
Hanahan got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylah Hughes out in front who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Hughes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashtyn Adams, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Battery Creek's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They fell 45-32 to Philip Simmons. While losing is never fun, Battery Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Philip Simmons is ranked 111th).
Hanahan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. As for Battery Creek, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14.
Everything came up roses for Hanahan against Battery Creek in their previous matchup last Tuesday as the squad secured a 60-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hanahan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
