The Greene County Wildcats lost against the West Jones Mustangs back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Greene County took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Jones. Greene County has not had much luck with West Jones recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Greene County saw an underclassman step up: Rakhiya Moody dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Moody scored a full 36% of Greene County's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Zamiah Knight was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Greene County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for West Jones, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Greene County and D'Iberville will round out the year against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at. D'Iberville is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. West Jones will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Petal at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
