The Taylor Yellowjackets will head out on the road to take on the New Richmond Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Taylor unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Indian Hill at home by a decisive 50-32 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Taylor in their matchups with Indian Hill: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, New Richmond's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They took a hard 64-49 fall against Goshen. While losing is never fun, New Richmond can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 603rd, while Goshen is ranked 81st).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Luke Wolf, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Rylan Utter, who scored 13 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Taylor's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8. As for New Richmond, they dropped their record down to 5-15 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Taylor didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against New Richmond in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 66-61 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Taylor since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
