Baseball Recap: Canyon Springs Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mojave

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon Springs). Everything went their way against the Mojave Rattlers on Thursday as they made off with a 20-4 victory. With that win, the Pioneers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Canyon Springs got a massive performance out of Cruz Monroy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Monroy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aaron Moreno, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Canyon Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Canyon Springs and bumps their season record up to 7-14. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Mojave, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Coming up, Canyon Springs will face off against Boulder City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pioneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. Mojave does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
