Lamar is 0-8 against South Grand Prairie since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lamar Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the South Grand Prairie Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Lamar came up short against Bowie and fell 65-58. While losing is never fun, Lamar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while Bowie is ranked 216th).
Meanwhile, South Grand Prairie had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They walked away with a 56-49 win over Haltom.
Lamar's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-19. As for South Grand Prairie, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 28-6 record this season.
Lamar was dealt a bruising 72-35 loss at the hands of South Grand Prairie in their previous meeting back in January. Can Lamar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
