The Van Horn Eagles waltzed into their contest Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They greeted the New Year with with a 42-23 win over Balmorhea. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Van Horn also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Van Horn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gio Corralez, who scored 15 points. Corralez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Gabriel Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Van Horn is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Balmorhea, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Van Horn will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Marfa at 7:30 p.m. As for Balmorhea, they will head out on the road to face off against Big Bend at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
