The Excel Christian Warriors suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 67-32 loss at the hands of Mineral County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Excel Christian in their matchups with Mineral County: they've now lost six in a row.
Excel Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keegan Davis, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Calderas, who scored eight points.
It was another big night for DeVayne Isom, who scored 21 points along with five assists and three steals for Mineral County. Isom has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Triston Jones was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Excel Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Mineral County, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8.
Excel Christian will head out on the road to face off against Sage Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Sage Ridge is ranked 95th, while Excel Christian is ranked 85th). As for Mineral County, they will be playing at home against Coleville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Coleville is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
