Bourgade Catholic barely beat Payson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Longhorns on Monday. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Camila Quinonez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maya Macias, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley McManness, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

The win (which was Bourgade Catholic's seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Payson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.

Bourgade Catholic will head out to face off against San Tan Foothills at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sabercats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something the Golden Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Payson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gilbert Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
