The West Mesa Mustangs will challenge the Eldorado Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
West Mesa took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Valley a 16-0 shutout.
The home team had won the previous seven meetings between Eldorado and Rio Grande, and Eldorado kept the tradition alive. The Golden Eagles walked away with a 10-7 win over the Ravens on Tuesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Golden Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Sidney Romero made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Taylor Hogan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Gianna Medina Vigil was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Eldorado hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Eldorado pushed their record up to 1-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for West Mesa, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
West Mesa might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Eldorado in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
