AAA Region VII recap Oct. 23, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. James, who took down 107th ranked North Myrtle Beach, 24-19. Joshua Roper threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 48 yards in the win.
Socastee extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region VII this week by beating Wilson, 42-7. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
St. James' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Allen Crum chipped in 69 yards. Steven Dieble helped St. James' passing attack out by catching one ball for six yards.
Tre McCullum was the best wideout in the league this week as St. James beat the Chiefs. McCullum tallied nine receptions for 99 yards.
Georgetown's Caleb Hughes and Alvin Walker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hughes has thrown for 1324 yards this season, while Walker, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 48 catches for 577 yards. Austin Adams from St. James leads the league in rushing with 696 yards.
A big matchup in AAA Region VII this week will be when Myrtle Beach takes on North Myrtle Beach. As it stands, the Seahawks are in second, while Perry Woolbright's team is in fourth.
Socastee led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Tigers.
