The St. George's Dragons couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a rough 51-23 loss at the hands of Freeman. St. George's has not had much luck with Freeman recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Freeman found their leader in underclassman Taylee Phelps, who scored 29 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Phelps has scored at least 25% of Freeman's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Semprimoznik, who scored 10 points.
St. George's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Freeman, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. George's will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kettle Falls at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th. As for Freeman, they will head out on the road to face off against Pullman at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pullman comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
