The Mesa Verde Mavericks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight defeat. They took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dixon. Mesa Verde has struggled against the Rams recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Mavericks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mathew Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Garcia pulled down eight or more rebounds. Ryan Jorgensen was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Mesa Verde's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Dixon, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
Mesa Verde won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Dixon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Matadors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mira Loma will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
