The Palmer Trinity Falcons will square off against the Downtown Doral Dolphins at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Palmer Trinity barely beat Ransom Everglades the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Palmer Trinity's way against Ransom Everglades on Tuesday as Palmer Trinity made off with an 8-1 win. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Pedro Castillo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
On the hitting side, Palmer Trinity let Nicholas Miraglia and Tommy Barcinas Jr. run wild. Miraglia went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Barcinas Jr. scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases Barcinas Jr. has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Michael Miraglia, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Palmer Trinity kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Downtown Doral made easy work of Somerset Academy South Homestead on Monday and carried off an 11-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dolphins.
Sebastian Richards and Robin Liberatore did most of the damage at the plate: Richards went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI, while Liberatore scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That triple marked the first that Richards hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madden Perez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Downtown Doral now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Palmer Trinity, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Palmer Trinity has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Downtown Doral struggles in that department as they've averaged .469. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
