The Freire Charter Dragon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Martin Luther 71-39 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Freire Charter has managed all season.
Freire Charter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ibrahim Mahmoud out in front who scored 27 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mahmoud has scored at least 25% of Freire Charter's points. Abdul Lo was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
Freire Charter's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-3. As for Martin Luther, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freire Charter won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Franklin Towne at 3:15 p.m. on December 21st. Franklin Towne will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Martin Luther will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Science Leadership Academy at Beeber at 4:45 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
