The Carl Hayden Community Falcons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 39-31 win over Maryvale. The victory was just what Carl Hayden Community needed coming off of a 84-25 loss in their prior matchup.
Carl Hayden Community was led to victory by Bria Moultrie and Bryana Lopez. Moultrie scored 16 points along with two steals, while Lopez scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lopez has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Maryvale had strong showings from Marianna Jennings, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Dalia Valdez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Maryvale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carl Hayden Community only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Carl Hayden Community's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-13. As for Maryvale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carl Hayden Community will face off against Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maryvale, Maryvale and Camelback will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Camelback is ranked 256th, while Maryvale is ranked 259th).
