Brewer is a perfect 6-0 against Chisholm Trail since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bears will head out to square off against the Rangers at 7:00 p.m. Brewer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Brewer is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Aledo just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Bearcats, falling 17-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bears have suffered since February 13th.
Haylie Jimenez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Avery Welch, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chisholm Trail, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Saginaw last Wednesday. The Rangers haven't had any issues with the Rough Riders recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Miley Guzman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on nine hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mia Favela, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
The victory got Chisholm Trail back to even at 8-8. As for Brewer, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Brewer has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Chisholm Trail struggles in that department as they've averaged .527. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brewer got the 'W' in their previous meeting on March 5th against Chisholm Trail by a conclusive 17-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
