Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Shadow Ridge's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Shadow Ridge won the last time they faced West Point and things went their way on Thursday too. The Stallions blew past the Dragons 9-3. Considering the Stallions have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Nathan Paxman tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shadow Ridge let Weston Eubanks and Kael Leon run wild. Eubanks scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Leon scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Eubanks a new career-high in doubles (two). Owen Gorman was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Shadow Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Shadow Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for West Point, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shadow Ridge will head out to square off against O'Connor at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Stallions surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Point, they will head out on the road to face off against Apollo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Dragons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
