The Naples Golden Eagles will challenge the Aubrey Rogers Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Naples is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Naples managed to slip by Barron Collier the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Naples lost 15-2 to Barron Collier on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Golden Eagles have suffered since April 5, 2024.
Naples saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was KEVIN ORTEGA, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Aubrey Rogers came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Patriots have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Harry Lyons, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. David Amaya was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Aubrey Rogers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lely only posted a batting average of .182.
This is the second loss in a row for Naples and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Aubrey Rogers, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Naples has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Aubrey Rogers struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Naples beat Aubrey Rogers 7-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Naples have another victory up their sleeve, or will Aubrey Rogers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
