Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 13 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Arvada West Wildcats proved on Saturday. They put the hurt on Littleton with a sharp 67-45 win. Given Arvada West's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Littleton is ranked 133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arvada West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sara Walker, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Saylor Swanson, who scored 14 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
Littleton's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Penny Urquhart, who scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds. The matchup was Urquhart's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacy Chandler, who scored 12 points along with 3 blocks.
Arvada West's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Littleton, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 1-5.
