The Hay Springs Hawks put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 71-22 victory over Oelrichs. The result was nothing new for Hay Springs, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Gage Mintken, who scored 24 points along with four steals. The match was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Dylan Young was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Hay Springs' win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Oelrichs, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hay Springs will challenge Leyton on Saturday. Leyton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Hay Springs is ranked 63rd). As for Oelrichs, they will head out on the road to face off against Hot Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
