Softball Recap: Oak Glen Wins High-Profile Match Against St. Marys

Oak Glen faced St. Marys in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Golden Bears never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The Golden Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Maddie Murray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mattie Carney, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Mikalyn Balch also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Oak Glen's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for St. Marys, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.

Coincidentally, Oak Glen and St. Marys will both be playing Logan the next time they take the field. The Golden Bears will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Blue Devils will host them at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
