Softball Recap: Franklin Road Academy Extends Winning Streak to Three

Franklin Road Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats with a sharp 9-1 win. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly eight runs.

Millie Pardue was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ren Spencer was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Gadsey, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Franklin Road Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Battle Ground Academy only posted a batting average of .125.

Franklin Road Academy pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Battle Ground Academy, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-10.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Franklin Road Academy will challenge rival Grace Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Battle Ground Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Columbia Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
