After two games on the road, Centerville is heading back home. They will take on The Covenant Christian Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Centerville is ranked 231st, while Covenant Christian Academy is ranked 216th).
Centerville gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They strolled past Highland Baptist Christian with points to spare, taking the game 36-20. The win was just what Centerville needed coming off of a 57-14 defeat in their prior contest.
Centerville had a senior duo take command as Jamari Ayrow rushed for 270 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries and Bryson Thomas rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Thomas really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run.
Another reason for the win was Centerville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Ayrow and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Covenant Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 20-14 to Jeanerette. Covenant Christian Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Centerville now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Covenant Christian Academy, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6.
Centerville lost to Covenant Christian Academy at home by a decisive 32-14 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Will Centerville have more luck at home instead of on the road?
