Washington County is 2-8 against the Wildcats since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Washington County Golden Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Laney Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Washington County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Washington County pushed their score all the way to 68 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They had to suffer through a rough 103-68 loss at the hands of Westside. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (64), Washington County still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Marquavion Cooper, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Kamonta Durden, who scored 11 points.
Even though Laney has not done well against the Bulldogs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Laney sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-59 win over the Bulldogs. The win was just what Laney needed coming off of a 79-53 loss in their prior game.
Washington County now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Laney, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
