The Union Spartans will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Pender Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Union is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 38-16 to Bear Grass Charter.
Meanwhile, Pender took care of business in their home opener last Friday (and then some). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lejeune 74-7 at home.
Jeremiah Johnson had a dynamite game for Pender, rushing for 206 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Jahiem Lambe was another key back, rushing for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Pender was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 470 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lejeune only gained 116.
Pender's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged four passes before it was all said and done. Jordan Hansley led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Zeke Williams's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned for a touchdown.
