After a string of five wins, the Istrouma Indians's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 52-42 to Dutchtown. Istrouma was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dutchtown apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.
Despite the defeat, Istrouma saw an underclassman step up: Eryn Brown scored 38 points along with six rebounds. Brown scored a full 90.5% of Istrouma's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was A'tiona Augustus, who scored four points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Istrouma's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Dutchtown, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Istrouma will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Live Oak at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Live Oak is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Dutchtown will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Charles Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
