This season hasn't been kind to the Atlantic Coast Stingrays, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 57-43 to Palatka. While losing is never fun, Atlantic Coast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 704th, while Palatka is ranked 167th).
Despite the loss, Atlantic Coast still got an impressive performance from DJ Thompson, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. JP Pearson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Atlantic Coast bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Palatka, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atlantic Coast will take on Fletcher at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fletcher focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday. Palatka won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Forest at 7:30 p.m. on December 13th. Forest will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
